I must agree with the armed forces leads being a complete waste of time unless you happen to be located close to a UK barracks and even if you are you will have to compete against Forces Insurance who operate all over the UK targetting Squaddies. I certainly wont be paying for his type of lead.
With regard to Brokers I , as an IFA must say that the level and quality of advice that I offer is second to none because I have "whole of market" for everything and yet many of my recent requests to PAA for some temporary alteration have never even been acknowledged. It is obvious why and its all about £££'s to PAA
I have started marketing my company more and more locally and guess what the prospective clients actually ring me, NO wrong numbers or time wasters or mobile only numbers and the cost to me about a 1/3 of my monthly spend to PAA and this is the 3rd month that I havn't bought from PAA so I am now looking to spend this money on a more regular basis.
The big players tend to be able to absorb costs by passing on that cost to their own people so why would PAA want to lose these people, they wouldn't because they are a major factor in PAA's profitability.
I will always look to take additional leads from PAA in the future rather than the way it was in the psat where PAA was my major source of leads. By the events of the last 6 months I have managed to find new ways to source prospective clients as I am sure others have and is my business suffering NO in fact by not having to chase time waster or wrong numbers I actually have more time to give to all clients which is really paying off.
Be honest with yourself PAA see you, me and every other subscriber whether an individual or a multi tie organisation as another way to increase their bottom line and as a company that has to report to shareholders do you honestly believe that they care about you or me and what we can offer.
It may be different when the FSA start getting complaints about comparison sites promising all sorts that they very often cannot deliver but until then find other ways to improve your business. I have and now its me who can pick and choose when I want leads.
As you say a fresh outlook is required.
Good Luck to you Barney but like me your flogging the same dead horse
